Poem: Time To Stop Running!

400 years later and we’re still running

Running from oppression

Running from possession

Running for our life

Running from strife

Running from confusion

Running from disillusion

Running from the shadows in the dark

Running from being thrown to the ground

Running from being tossed around

Running to never be found

Running because we have no common ground

Running because of the color of our skin

Running because we don’t fit in

Running because we fear the end

Running because we feel we can’t win

But we refuse to give in

Or pretend there’s nothing wrong

400 years is a long time

To be on the run and hunted for fun

So let’s stop running

And let’s all unite for what’s right

Walk towards the light

Not the dark shadows of the night
