Poem: So I’ve Been Told

Climbing out of the dark deep hole
That buried my soul
Is a part of life
So, I've been told
It would strengthen your soul
And help you grow wiser
So, I've been told
Don't shiver from the cold
You better take hold
Because you reaped what you sowed
So, I've been told
Did I truly reap what I sowed?
When I was only doing what I was told
Instead, all I was left with
Was a hole to crawl into and grow old
So, I've been told
That's life dear child
You live with what you're given
Even if what you are given
Isn't worth living
You should be glad not sad
So, I've been told
Now, that I'm older and wiser
I say loud and bold
I am the keeper of my soul
To have and to hold
Until I grow cold in the ground
And wait to return for another round
Life never ends
Because the creator is within
Farewell, until we meet again
